Minor referrals should be communicated to parents about incidents that occur that you write up.  Building a relationship and opening communication with families is powerful. Major referral communication to parents will be done by administration. Specialists will print the minor referral, along with the updated cover letter with their contact information, and pass it along to the homeroom teacher.  This will allow the homeroom teacher to be aware of the incident and ensure the referral gets home in a folder/bookbag.

Communication Challenge (2nd Quarter)-  Update-  This Wednesday please tally your grade levels communication.  This challenge is meant to increase communication (hopefully more positive with parents).  We are aware that many of you are already communicating on a daily basis with many families.  Link to the form.  The categories for communication are:  phone call; emails, texts, notes, memberhub/newsletter, conferences.  1 point for a Memberhub newsletter - 2 points for an individual family email - 3 points for face to face conference or phone call.

Helping Hands

We are excited to have the Helping Hands program return to Underwood!  The program will be an afterschool program to mentor some of our males in grades 3-5.  The letters went home to families and the interest meeting will be on Monday Dec. 10th in the Media Center. The mentors are students from NC State University.

November 20th

Celebrations

Early Release: Underwood PTA will be providing lunch from Viva Chicken.
Lunch will be available in the media center starting at 11:00. Here is the
Agenda for our meeting- see you all at 2:00 in the cafeteria.
Underwood is working with Leith Volkswagen of Raleigh to provide shoes
for 16 students that are in need of new shoes via their Sneaker Drive

Meet Tracey Hall - Instructional Assistant in first
grade - My name is Tracey Hall and I am “newbie”
to the field of elementary education. I frequently
substituted at Underwood last year and realized
how much I enjoyed teaching, learning and growing
with young and old alike. I am a native North
Carolinian (born in Durham and raised in Tarboro)
and have lived in Raleigh for over 30 years. I
graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill but was raised
as a DOOKIE! Go figure.  I did explore life outside
North Carolina after college while working for an
advertising agency in Washington, DC. Prior to
joining Underwood, I spent the majority of my
career in the home building industry as a sales and
marketing manager.
I am married to my sweet husband Mike and have two dogs, Lucy and Molly.
Mike had a kidney/pancreas transplant this past January (less than a year ago).
I share this because the transplant was a huge success and we are so blessed!
He is doing very well. I have four nieces and two nephews ranging in age from
18 to 31. They have been a joy and keep me young!
Next to being with family and friends, I love sports, movies, reading, yoga,
spending time outdoors and singing in my church choir.
Everyone is so kind and helpful at Underwood and I love being part of the
Underwood family.
