  • Improved communication and the change in EOG testing/recess schedules was great this year!
  • Holly emailing when a new student enrolls at school is really helpful!
  • Mrs. Fichter-Venners and Ms. Goto were utilizing every second this past Friday afternoon!!  They were playing Jeopardy with their standards from the year at 3:30!
  • Everyone... it's the end of the year!  This is hard work and we are doing it!!!!  :)

Wish Well

  • Everyone... it's the end of the year!  This is hard work!

Communication:

Playground-There are apparent issues with the field (safety concerns, drainage, student request, increased opportunities, etc).  The PTA is hoping to dedicate funds (along with grants, business sponsors) to do something but nothing has been fully decided.  All feedback is welcome to Travis.  (Do realize that no other PTA initiatives-Planning Days, Stipends, Technology, etc. will not be affected by targeted fundraising efforts for this initiative).

Elective teacher sign up form-There have been some issues with the view/edit status of the form.  Please complete your preferences for which electives you want to teach next year by completing this link if you haven't done so already.

PLTs -- Wednesday's PLT is not required but the time is yours to complete any EOY tasks as needed.

Old Textbooks-  Before you leave next Tuesday, please place all "approved" unwanted textbooks outside of your classroom with the paper Alexandria provided you attached to it.  Mr. Marrow and team will pick them up.  If Alexandria has not been by your room yet, she will be later this week!

EOG Pick-Up Materials-  Please pick up your materials prior to the school day starting at 8:45.

End of Year Evaluations - we are in the last week of school. If you haven't had (or scheduled) end of year with Mallory and I be sure to sign up -- Sign up

Standards next year- The Math and ELA standards are changing slightly next year. Many of you have heard us discuss this over the past 2 years when the state agreed to these changes. At this point, we have reviewed/shared both the ELA and Math standards. Some grade levels will be touching on the ELA standards as a team in the upcoming weeks. Links to the resources shared: ELA and Math The math department has created some live webinars as well. Click here for information. Please let Alexandria know if you would like any support understanding/digging into these new standards!

Feedback -If you have more feedback (things that have worked or things that could be better throughout the school year) you would like for us to consider, please feel free to email, discuss or fill out this form. https://goo.gl/forms/XNwhdAo6gU8lOfck1. This would include concerns and idea for next school year. Responses can be found here.

Clean School -In an effort to provide a clean and safe school, the custodial team has had on-going meetings to increase their support to make sure that our learning spaces are clean and supporting the students. Click on the link Customer service updates to see the custodial expectations. If you have a maintenance concern or need please email Mr. Marrow.  If you have a cleaning concern please email Ms. Mbalia. Mr. Marrow and Ms. Mbalia will be conducting weekly walkthroughs.

Collaboration

Room Parent 2018-2019-  We have been working closely with the new PTA board, and they are trying to streamline all the work done within the school.  One of the discussions has been the consistency within classrooms as a room parent.  They asked for the following survey to be filled out so they can share this with Corie Jackson, our new room parent leader.

MClass-  The window for EOY MClass window opens May 14th and closes June 4th.  It is imperative that you organize a plan with your team that allows you to assess each other's students.  Additionally, we are asking that you assess your students that you feel will be in the red or yellow on the TRC prior to May 17th so we can get summer school letters distributed (by May 21).  Using the TRC as an indicator is new this year, and the county will need to establish a plan to allow for number of students that will be invited.

Critical Thinking

Open House and School Family Picnic (2018-19) - Our leadership team has narrowed down these two events to two dates. We are asking that all staff members vote on which date for each event. Be sure to vote by Friday  the 8th. pick a date for open house . Be sure to be logged into your Wake ID account.

PLT this past Wednesday -  As we all know, working in a school can be challenging.  Trying to meet the demands from every angle can please some and make others feel frustrated.  We have heard several concerns about the length of our "review of the year with goals for 2018-2019."  Our intention was to be quick and model how the ILT team decided PLT's could benefit the school as a whole to meet in one area each week.  The reality was we should have kept the business meeting on the calendar for this week.  We apologize for the added frustration during an already hectic time of year.  We appreciate the reflective respectful conversations from the individuals that met with us. We are open to ideas of how to best meet the challenging demands of the "need for time" we seem to always be seeking. We will continue to critically think of how to efficiently work smarter and communicate effectively.

EOG Links- Here is the updated link for all things EOG (Lunch times, recess schedules, testing plan). At this point, all administrators and proctors have been placed.  Teacher assistants in classrooms have not been pulled.  Please note, that we put them alternate supports if we have someone back out.  Hopefully this will help you plan your next few weeks.  Additionally, everyone will receive 30 min planning.  Please let us know if you have any questions or notice anything that needs to be fixed/changed:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1s3SeqB7TID2PIdt48-g1GftFovgpNJHjiqiYjmLV-6s/edit?usp=sharing

Testing Windows-  It's that time of year!!!  We know you have a lot on your plate and want to ensure we are providing proper supports.  We are working hard to find proctors for the EOG's outside of our school and are ensuring if we do have to pull them, they are pulled evenly!  Listed below are the windows for each test.  If you need help organizing your schedule, please reach out to Alexandria.
