Communication:

  • Electives begin on Wednesday, September 12th.  Check your rosters daily during the first week  (Oasis login:  wcpss+employee number; password:  email password)  If an elective change is needed, complete this form.  If you need materials to teach your elective, complete the Instructional Funds form here.  Complete your elective sign here prior to Wednesday.  More info. to come about elective letter website.  If you need access to the 12 Magnet laptops to teach your elective, email Ashley asap.
  • Specialists and their PRIDE Cards - As we continue to grow in our mastery of Conscious Discipline skills, the specialists team has had some conversation about our use of commitments and PRIDE cards.  We will continue to help students make appropriate commitments in our classes; however, we will no longer be writing these commitments on PRIDE cards to give to classroom teachers. In our conversation, we recognized that each classroom teacher had a different response to the PRIDE cards ranging from ignoring them completely, to using them as a reward/punishment system in their own homerooms. We are committed to managing our own classroom environment when homeroom classes are with us and we will continue to use commitments as tools for learning new skills.  If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to Kellie or Rachel.
  • Energizers-  We are fortunate to have a new Wellness Committee forming this year!  A first grade parent works directly with the state as a nutrition consultant.  She has many initiatives with DPI and wants to ensure everyone has access to the Energizers we used SO many years ago.  The one's teachers received were laminated cards on a ring.  You can also find the same energizers (I am sure some are updated!) online.  For those of you that are new, there is an instructional video that provides guidance on using the energizers.  Here is a great article on Edutopia that provides a reason why we should use Energizers/Brain Breaks in the classroom.  If you would like Energizer laminated cards or have an extra set in your classroom, please let Alexandria know.
  • MClass Materials-  Please read through the following:
    • Inventory your new TRC kits (it has been noticed throughout the county that kits are missing books).  If you have missing or extra books, please identify which books on this form.
    • Check your Level T book-  some have errors.
    • If you have students not uploaded into the system at the start of the window, do not panic.. the state is working with Amplify to rectify the problem.
    • When beginning your TRC, you need to present all of the books for each level and let the students choose the book they are interested in reading.
  • PowerTeacher Pro Webinar & Questions  WakeConnect>WORKSPACES>Collaborative Teams>Data Managers>DATA MANAGER FILES>PowerSchool Instructions>PowerTeacher Pro

Big Universe change of log-in for students
In order to provide more security with our Big Universe usage our student log in process has changed. Students should now sign in using WCP + their wake ID as their username. Their password will remain the same (their student number).  Wake ID is different than their student number.
